All the Little Bears were spoken for before they were even bred but one family has come upon challenges that will keep them from taking on the responsibility of a puppy right now. That has opened an opportunity for another family to be able to bring home our sweet little Polar Bear by next week!!! Polar was the third born in the litter and has been the largest pup all along. Everyone has grown at the same percentage rate so she has stayed the biggest. Polar is super sweet, has the cutest little cowlick down her nose and loves to be cuddled. She is using the potty trays, goes willingly into her crate, sits, is doing well with leash training and comes to 'Puppy, puppy, puppy recall like a champ! She loves the water and the sand box and of course playing with her siblings! By next week we will have mastered down, spin and wait....I hope!!

It has been sooo hot this week we have learned some new ways to cool down. Dogs don't sweat so they pant when they are hot. The best way for them to cool is to cool off their bellies. Throwing a bag of ice on the ground was a big hit, so was the little swimming pool. And of course, after they are all wet, they had to hit the sand box! That big mess led to another experience with the bath!!!! It's great exposure, every bath time has gone more smoothly and less stress than the time before. These dogs will have very happy groomers!!
My favorite trainer came to visit this week! We worked on "puppy, puppy, puppy" recall and leash training.
Leona helped me last year so she has lots of experience and the puppies loved her!!!
Early stages of leash training are just getting them used to having the leash on and it following them around. This sets them up for easy following you later!
We always work hard at sit and being calm. This is the hardest when I first come into their kennel room because the excitement level goes through the roof. Getting them to set and wait calmly for me to pick them up, give them food....whatever is coming is a big deal and a calm wait is an even bigger accomplishment. So proud of my Little Bears.
We are heading to our final week.....so much to learn still but their little puppy brains just soak it all up! It is bittersweet for me when it's time to go home but the happiness these little bears will bring their new families mean the world to me.
