Eyes and Ears are open for business!

Eyes and Ears are open for business and boy are we getting busy! They now respond when Mom or one of the humans enter their space with lots of wiggles and snuffle noises! All sleeping one minute and wiggling with excitement the next.

EAT, SLEEP, GROW, REPEAT is the mantra. Eating being key and as they grow, the usual line up at the milk bar becomes complicated so they get really creative! They find the most interesting configurations! And then they go for it!!

Not exactly sure how Bronco made this work for him but he manages to eat!!

Their sharp little nails get trims about every 3 days so they don't hurt Mom while "pumping". I haven't told her yet the worst is yet to come when they start getting teeth! By then we will be helping her with supplemental food.

Cypress had her spay done this week. She is recovering nicely but I wouldn't say she is very happy about the cone of shame. Managing to get about her life in spite of it, however! She has given us 4 fantastic litters of puppies and we are grateful for her! Now it's time to chase birds and always be the center of her own universe.

We started the deworming process this week. Every week they will get a new med to battle the everyday parasites that can ravage little puppy digestive systems! It's all in the evironment and almost impossible to avoid but we do our darndest to combat the buggers!!!

Round worms, hook worms, giardia, coccidia......all take a different dewormer to combat effectively. Once they are older and have stronger immune systems its not quite so challenging but certainly still out there and it's not an unusual battle for older dogs!

Cuteness abounds and it just compounds in these next stages!! Stay tuned for many adventures and learning experiences coming our way!
