All we go through to get to the point of confirming puppies! From holding your breath that the Mommas pass all the health tests, finding a complimentary mate, timing of the heat cycle to MEET said male, hope for successful breeding and then wait more on pins and needles for confirmation that it worked!!
I am over the moon to announce we had our ultrasound with Dr Bynum and I am sure I let out a breath that I have been holding for weeks when he said "pregnant!" In the ultrasound he could see at least 6 and thinks there are 2 more behind the horn. So probably 8 but not 10.
We can't get an accurate count until the week before they are born when we could do an xray. I don't usually do that just because a momma that pregnant doesn't need the excess stress of another vet visit, laying on the xray table and held down to be still. It's so close to birth that I have, in the past, opted to just wait and see. So long as there are no signs of complications I will most likely make that same choice again.

In the meantime, we are feeding all great healthy food, enjoying the bounty of summer watermelon and raspberries. Along with a new batch of green beans from the garden and of course, our famous meatballs!
Also, love these broth bones from Costco. As always, all these yummy treats are an exceptional opportunity to practice manners!

I love these Yeti bowls! They are the perfect size and shape, have a rubber pieces on the bottom to prevent sliding around and they stack, not nest. They weren't cheap but I did see that bark box was including one for free......

Magnolia is looking lovely with her pregnant glow. She is getting a little thick but not showing her "baby belly" yet. The growth that will come in the last 2 weeks of her pregnancy will be astounding! Until then, she is just being Magnolia! Ball at the ready, hopping in and out the pool and sand box with Cypress. One of her favorite self play games is dropping 2 balls in the pool and then bobbing for them. She is NOT going to be amused when I tell her she can't play fetch anymore!!

Happy to report all the fireworks went by completely unnoticed by these 2 beauties. Not even a blink! And even better were reports in from the Valentine puppies (now 19 weeks old) that all did the same! Some even enjoyed watching! It is so rewarding for us to learn that all the sound desensitizing we do when they are under 8 weeks pays off for the pups to be unaffected by the scariness of fireworks. It is so sad to see an animal so afraid and dangerous for them! July 5th is one of the busiest days of the year for reuniting dogs that have "runaway". Hope everyone activated their FI collars!!!
Cute pics of Poppy watching the fireworks and Dagur at obedience class. I feel like a proud Gramma! I guess I am, lucky me!
